Specbolt Fastener Kits Review
If you ride a motorcycle offroad, you will lose bolts. Its as simple as that.
In the past when I needed new hardware I went to the local home improvement store and hoped I could find something that worked. Most times I could find a replacement, but it was often inferior to the OEM hardware. Sometimes it would require a different tool size so I may even have to augment my tool kit.
The option of going online to order OEM bolts is expensive and takes days to get your replacements.
When I got my first KTM about a year ago, one of the things that impressed me the most is how few tools are needed to get most tasks done. That only works if your hardware matches. To solve the problem mentioned earlier I got a 250 piece kit specifically made for my KTM from Specbolt.
The hardware in the Specbolt kits are designed to match OEM specs, and often the Specbolt fasteners look even better than OEM in my experience.
Comparing the cost of ordering OEM replacements individually, my 250 piece kit at $49.99 is a bargain! You even get the specialty stuff like rear sprocket screws, screws for plastics, and the special shaped washers. All this, and it maintains the same tool kit requirements! If you go to the local store for KTM hardware I can almost guarantee you won't be getting the TORX screws it comes with.
You may be thinking, 250 pieces is a large set, maybe you don't lose hardware that often. Specbolt has that covered too. You can get smaller kits for your bike as well. They offer kits for every major brand, specialty kits for plastics replacement, or even kits for vintage restorations. If none of those get you covered, give them a call and they can even build custom kits.
It may seem like a stretch to review a box of screws, but having this box has been one of the handiest tools in my garage. The time and hassle it saves when I find a missing screw or the satisfaction you get when you can bolt your latest farkle on with fresh hardware is just awesome.
I highly recommend looking at Specbolt.com and find the kit designed for your bike. Pick whatever size you see fit for your garage and order it. You won't regret it.
