What seems like the true American saga of dreams, triumph, and defeat has struck again. Erik Buell racing lasted 6 years before calling a meeting of all 120 employees and making the announcement. Erik Buell racing is filing bankruptcy.

It appears that many things plagued the American based motorcycle company including failure to secure funding, lack of dealer network, and lower than expected sales. No one is sure if Erik Buell will continue making motorcycles under a different name or if the dream of a true American sportbike is dead.
