Summary

The Aeromoto Dry Tour motorcycle boots are a great value if you are looking for a good waterproof touring boot. They are reasonably protective, comfortable, and performed as advertised in the wet weather. 

Intro

Aeromoto is a house brand for Competition Accessories. They are using the Aeromoto brand to market their new line of sport riding gear. Their other house brands are Sliders and Shadow. 

Feel and Sizing

The first thing I noticed when I pulled these boots out of the box was a chemical smell. I think it was probably the glue or the chemicals used in processing the leather. This smell faded over the course of a couple of days and I no longer smell it. The second thing I noticed is the leather on these boots. I was not expecting a lot in the finish of a boot that sells for $109.99, but this boot looks great! It has a classic styling with just enough detail to make it interesting.

I normally wear a size 10 in tennis shoes and a size 44 in Alpinestars and Sidi boots. I ordered the Aeromoto boots in a size 10 and they fit well. The sizing on these boots seems to be true to the label.

The stitching, zippers, and velcro all feel like quality construction and work properly.

Construction and Protection

These boots have your safety in mind. They include a reflective panel on the heel, reinforced heel and toe box, molded in ankle protection, and reinforced shin area. The level of protection in these boots is comparable to other boots I have seen in the touring category. They do not boast all the latest technology that a high end race boot has, but these boots do not leave me feeling vulnerable while riding either.

The Aeromoto boots also include an extra leather panel on the top where your shifter would cause more wear.

For ease of use you will find flex panels on the front and back of the boot and a zipper entry with a velcro flap at the top to keep it closed. The zipper pull is made of velcro and when the flap is closed over it the zipper cannot pull down on accident.

The water is kept out by a Hipora membrane. The membrane does run all the way up to the top and covers the zipper area with a gusset so you can easily get in and out of the boots and you will not get water leaks around the zipper.

There is ample padding on the inside to keep you comfortable and the sole has a nice feel as well. The bottom is flexible and this helps a lot when walking around off the bike. The grip of this boot is good in both dry and wet weather.  

Comfort

The waterproof feature of these boots is what made them interesting to me. I have used these to commute to work and ride the twisties. I have worn them from freezing temperatures up to about 70F.

I'll start with thermal protection. These boots are not insulated and in freezing temperatures you will eventually get cold if you only have one pair of socks on. I rode to work one morning and I was averaging about 55-60 mph for about 1.5 hours in 34F weather. When I got to work I was just starting to get chilled and I was only wearing one pair of socks. On the other hand, I was able to remain comfortable on my way back home in 70F weather. I haven't had weather much warmer than that try them in yet. This comfort range is very helpful in the late winter and early spring when there is such a big difference between morning and afternoon temperatures.

I normally do not wear boots unless I am riding so I am not used to wearing boots at work. I did wear these all day at work when I commuted in them and I was surprised at how comfortable they were to wear all day. I would suggest you wear a sock that will stay up and one that is taller than the top of the boot. The first day I had a sock that slipped down and after a full day of walking around, and not being used to boots, I found my shin felt a little rubbed from walking in the boot. The next day I wore my Oneal MX socks that stay up really well and it was not an issue.

The flex panels and flexible sole make the Aeromoto boots easy to walk in and I did not have any problems wearing them all day at work.

A common problem I have with boots of all types is with my ankle. I am not sure if this is just me or if many people have this problem, but a new boot will often form a crease under my ankle and dig in a bit. I did get that with these boots, but after the second day of commuting the boots were broken in and soft enough that it no longer bothers me.

I did have a chance to wear these boots on a long wet ride and they kept my feet dry as advertised. It was very nice to end that ride with dry feet and I didn't have the hassle of using boot covers. 

While riding you get a good amount of feel so finding neutral and working that rear brake will not be a problem.

What Could Be Improved

I am having a hard time trying to think of improvements on these boots without taking them out of their category. One thing that would be helpful for my riding style is an option of toe sliders, but touring boots typically don't have toe sliders.

Final Opinion

The Aeromoto Dry Tour boots are a well thought out and well executed product from Competition Accessories. I didn't have high expectations of these boots considering their price point, but they turned out to be a very good product. If you are looking for a waterproof touring boot you can't go wrong with these boots. They are comfortable, have classic styling, and even waterproof! If you need a new pair of waterproof touring boots you can't go wrong with Aeromoto Dry Tour boots.
